What is rss feed ?

RSS stands for really simple syndicate.RSS is a technology that is being used by millions of web users around the world to keep track of their favorite websites.
In the earlier days (and even now) we used to bookmark our favourite websites so that we could return to them in one click instead of typing in the entire address and also in order to keep ourselves updated with the changes in these websites.
Having bookmarks can sometimes get tricky as having too many of them can lead to confusion and you also miss the information if you forget to check them.
All this changes when you start using rss feed - RSS flips things around a little
and is a technology that provides you with a method of getting relevant and up to date information sent to you for you to read in your own time. It saves you time and helps you to get the information you want quickly after it was published.
How to use rss ?
If you want to get into the habit of reading sited through rss then the first thing that you need is a rss reader.
I am not very technically savvy but a good place to start is with a couple of free and easy to use web based ones like Google Reader and Bloglines .
Both of these feed readers work
a little like email. As you subscribe to feeds you’ll see that unread entries from the sites you’re tracking will be marked as bold. As you click on them you’ll see the latest update and can
read it right there in the feed
reader. You are given the option
to click through to the actual site
or move onto the next unread
item – marking the last one as
‘read’.

What is onam and where is it celebrated ?

Onam is a Hindu festival, celebrated
with  great enthusiasm throughout
Kerala between August and
September.
Onam is the most popular festival of
Kerala (a southern coastal state of
India). This is a Hindu festival,
celebrated with great enthusiasm
throughout Kerala for a period of ten
days. Every year this festival falls on
the Malayalam month of Chingam -
between August and September and
also known as the harvest festival of
Kerala.
Onam is one of the most ancient
Hindu festivals which is still celebrated
with great devotion. Onam marks
the homecoming of King Mahabali, a
legendary king, who ruled Kerala in
ancient times. That period was
believed to be the golden age of
Karala, people were happy, free from
harm and complete harmony and
prosperity was there. This golden age
ended when Vamana (an avatar of
Lord Vishnu)
pushed King Mahabali, deep into the
earth. Satisfied by Mahabali’s honesty
and generosity, the lord granted him a
wish that he can visit his kingdom and
dear subjects once in a year.Onam is the most important festival in
Kerala and people of Kerala start
preparing for Onam days ahead.
Although the festivities for Onam last
for ten days the two most important
days of the festival are the first day
and the last or the tenth day.
The first day or Atham is considered
as an auspicious day by the people of
Kerala as it marks the beginning of
Onam. The most important feature of
this day is the making of pookalam
(floral carpet) which is made by the
girls of the house while the boys
gather fresh flowers required to make
a pookalam. Thiruonam or the tenth day of Onam
is considered as the big day when
entire Kerala is decked up with fresh
flowers and everyone wishes each
other ‘Thiruonam Aashamsakal’ which
translated means Onam wishes to
everyone. The most important feature of Onam
celebrations is a grand feast known as
Onasadya that is prepared on
Thiruonam which is the important day
of celebrations. The feast is essentially
a nine course meal featuring 11 to 13
dishes and is traditionally served on a
banana leaf.
Kathakali performances and boat
races - locally known as vallamkali -
are also permanent fixtures during
the Onam celebrations. The towns of
Kottayam and Aranmulai are, in
particular, famed for their Onam boat
races.

Why is the sky blue ?

A clear cloudless day-time sky is
blue because molecules in the air
scatter blue light from the sun more
than they scatter red light.  When
we look towards the sun at sunset,
we see red and orange colours
because the blue light has been
scattered out and away from the
line of sight. Sunlight reaches Earth's atmosphere and is scattered in all directions by all the gases and particles in the air. Blue light is scattered in all directions by
the tiny molecules of air in Earth's
atmosphere. Blue is scattered more
than other colors because it travels as shorter, smaller waves. This is why we see a blue sky most of the time.

What is IP ?

IP - Internet Protocol
Definition: IP (Internet Protocol) is the
primary network protocol used on the
Internet, developed in the 1970s. On
the Internet and many other
networks, IP is often used together
with the Transport Control Protocol
(TCP) and referred to interchangeably
as TCP/IP.
Internet Protocol is the process of
breaking up information into little
packets and shipping them through
the internet to be reassembled on the
other end. It's very efficient
(compared to a phone line, which is
dedicated to a single phone call, even
though most of it is "dead air") and
self correcting (packets are re-routed
if a network link goes down).
IP supports unique addressing for
computers on a network. Most
networks use the Internet Protocol
version 4 (IPv4) standard that features
IP addresses four bytes (32 bits) in
length. The newer Internet Protocol
version 6 (IPv6 ) standard features
addresses 16 bytes (128 bits) in
length.
There are five classes of available IP
ranges: Class A, Class B, Class C, Class
D and Class E, while only A, B, and C
are commonly used. Each class allows
for a range of valid IP addresses.

Steps to find the IP address of your pc.
Go to Start > All Programs >
Accessories > Command
Prompt.
Alternatively, go to Start >
Run, type cmd, and press
OK.
In the Command Prompt
window, type ipconfig and
press Enter. This will bring
up your IP address, DNS
address, and other
information about your
internet connection.

How to increase the battery life of your android smartphone ?

Saving your battery life isn’t rocket
science—the most important thing is to
get rid of the things that are draining
the battery the most, and trim down
other things that you need to use. Click on Settings –> About Phone –>
Battery use - to see what has been
killing your battery .From there you would notice that the brightness is usually high than what you require so Head into Settings –>
Display –> Brightness, where you can
choose to automatically  adjust the brightness levels.  Another important factor is to adjust the screen timeout so Go to Settings > Display >
Screen timeout to change the interval
before timeout of your screen; you
may need to try out a few different
times to find one that is suits you.By far, the biggest hit on battery life is the cell data and cell phone radios constantly hunting for signal. A study showed that when you put the phone on airplane mode the battery lasts for 5-6 days!
Even with wifi on! So the key is to be
able to just use wifi as much as
possible and shut off all cell
communication and whenever you feel the need simply kill Airplane Mode and you get back on the cell network. Turn off the sync - When applications such as Twitter,
Facebook, and Gmail are all allowed to
automatically sync updates/emails,
your Internet connection is left on,
waiting ready to request the updates
at whatever intervals you have it set
to. Increasing the length of time
between updates will help improve
your phone’s battery life.
Even better is turning off sync
completely – meaning your phone will
only update when you manually
request it to do so in each application.
While it’s slightly more effort for
updates I found my phone was less of
a distraction after changing this!
Battery life also increased. Use task killers - These are applications which kill programs that run in the background and hence help in freeing the ram . One such application which i personally use is automatic task killer that can be downloaded from google play. If your phone supports features such
as GPS and Bluetooth you more than
likely don’t use them all the time, and
if left on they can be an unneeded
strain on your battery, so turn them
off if they’re not being used! The same
applies for Wi-Fi and 3G support. An interesting thing to note is that do not use live wallpapers unless you are a big fan of the same and also try not to use vibration mode when your phone is silent because both these have a slight effect on battery life. Another easy way to control the apps that run in the background is to use the phone's built in features . . To do this go
into the settings menu and tap
“applications.” Then hit “manage
applications.” Shut down
applications you aren’t using, or
ones that are eating up battery life,
by clicking on the name of the app
and then tapping the “stop” button. Another recommendation would be to turn the phone into power saving mode.
However, this mode is not included
within all Android smartphones, but
those that have it will be able to
reduce the screen time-out, turn off
the vibration, disable homescreen
animations and lower the display's. Finally i would like to conclude that following all these steps would limit the phone's functionality but if you are ok otherwise then using the charger is not a very big task.

This is exactly what i was thinking before writing my first blog post. Your first blog post will most
probably suck. Only your girlfriend ( if she is in a good mood)
might like it. Your Google Analytics
might say two visitors only – your
laptop and your smartphone. This may sound a bit harsh but even
the biggest bloggers published blog
posts that brought in almost no traffic at all. What separates
them from the rest is that while
writing these awful blog posts the
bloggers were learning the
fundamentals of creating
immersive blog posts and they learn from their each and every mistake. Starting a blog is a learning
experience, it is not an easy way to
make money online. You need to
learn what people want to read, learn
how to present your content so
people have a better reading
experience, learn what calls-to-action
work best, learn how to get people to
click and share your blog posts. Never write about something that you hardly
know of and what you don’t like. Most individuals who want to write blogs
often choose topics that are of great interest to other people, and of course, themselves. Make sure that you choose a topic that you're interested
and eliminate those that you don’t like, even if the topic is said to generate
more traffic. As long as you're passionate about the topic, go on and write a blog about it. It is also good if you always consider your readers. Your
blogs are like featured columns and so you must update at least weekly. Try
to add new posts so that you will not be forgotten. If in case you can't write new posts, try to inform your readers.
There’s no single right way to choose a blog topic, and the best topic for you depends a lot on your situation and what you hope to do with your blog.
